16years old girl from Russia wins Anne Frank photo competition

The Anne Frank museum is in Amsterdam. Is located in the small house where Anna and her family were hidden during World War II trying to avoid the Nazis.
Anna wrote about every moment of those difficult days and her thoughts on her diary, which bacame famous after her death. Anna and her family were betrayed and transferred to Bergen Belsen camp, where she died by typhoid two months before the defeat of the Germans.
Since 1960 this house has been converted into a museum, which organises a photo contest each year with the title «Sources of Inspiration». Over 400 young people took part in the competition, with their photos and accompanying explanations reflecting their views on seven themes – freedom, goodness, giving, courage, humanity and usefulness – that Anne Frank wrote about in her diary.
The winner is Evgenia Stanina, 16 years old. She is from Russia. The jury were unanimous in picking out Evgenia’s picture of a young girl making a bungee jump as the overall winner. ‘The photo represents the theme of courage beautifully’, according to the jury’s comments. ‘It was taken at just the right moment, the composition is excellent and you can really feel the tension. We can all remember those first moments that demanded courage when we were young. |
